Activating Multi-Factor Authentication
Multi-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of protection by preventing unwanted access to patient information and malicious acts. It requires two or more proofs of identity to grant you access to BeatBox.
With multi-factor authentication activated, when a user enters their username and password on BeatBox, an authentication code is sent to the authenticator app installed on the user's mobile device. The user then uses the authentication code to log into BeatBox.
To activate multi-factor authentication on BeatBox:
1. Log in to BeatBox.
2. Navigate to the top right-hand corner of BeatBox, click on your username to open the user details window, and select Activate multi-factor authentication.
Note: If the Activate multi-factor authentication does not appear in the user details windows, it means that it is enabled.
The Activate Multi-Factor Authentication will initiate a multi-factor authentication session with a QR Code on a new tab.
3. Scan the QR Code with an Authenticator App (such as Google or Microsoft Authenticator or one recommended by your IT department), enter your passcode and click the arrow icon to proceed.
Note: Please reach out to your IT Department if you require assistance on how to download and install the authenticator apps on your mobile phone
4. Take a note of the Recovery Code, keep it somewhere safe, (you will need the recovery code in case you lose your mobile phone) and click on the I have safely recorded this code to proceed.
5. BeatBox will confirm that it has verified your identity. Close the tab or refresh it to go back to the login page.
6. BeatBox will prompt you to Enter the 6-digit code from the authenticator app every time you log in.
